The Model Makers
This picture was painted for a Gibsons jigsaw puzzle and will hopefully bring back happy memories for those who, like me, grew up building Airfix kits in the 1960s and 70s. Our imaginations were fired by the wonderful artwork of Roy Cross which graced the front of Airfix boxes throughout this period and I've portrayed two of his best in this recreation. The posters on the wall depict other endeavours which captivated boys of this era: the Apollo moon landings and the first flight of the prototype Concorde.
